  • No Refunds & Auto-Renewals: All payments are final and non-refundable. If you cancel a paid plan, you’ll keep access until the end of the current billing cycle, but Grammarly will not provide pro-rated credits for unused time.
  • The "License" to Your Data: While you "own" your content, you grant Grammarly a massive license to store, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works from your emails and documents to "improve" the service (e.g., training their suggestion engine).
  • AI Training & Outputs: Any text you prompt or generate via AI is considered your User Content. Grammarly warns that they aren't liable if the AI provides factually incorrect information or if the output accidentally mimics someone else's content.
  • Third-Party Sharing: By using "Integrations" (like connecting your Gmail), you authorize Grammarly to transmit your content to those third parties. Once that data leaves Grammarly, they are no longer responsible for how it’s handled.
  • Account Deletion vs. Cancellation: Canceling a subscription just stops future billing and moves you to a "Free" tier. If you want your data gone entirely, you must specifically follow the "Account Deletion" steps in their documentation, which is permanent and non-reversible.
  • Organizational Overlords: If you signed up with a work or school email, the organization can take control of your account, view your content, or even merge/terminate your account without your individual consent.
  • Inactive Account Purge: If you are on a Free tier and don’t log in for 12 consecutive months, Grammarly reserves the right to delete your account and all associated data.
